IMPORTANT INFORMATION UPDATED 17 AUGUST 09

Parish Council Meetings with Barrie Foley

We have been advised by Barrie Foley of the NPA that he has/will be visiting as many Parish Council meetings as possible to bring people up to date with the current situation regarding the Management Plan, the LDF (Core Strategy), and the RMS.  We have been given a 'working list' of PC's contacted and confirmed meeting dates.  However, as this is a fluid document and likely to be changed almost daily, we have decided not to publish it on the website as usual, but to offer the details of your own Parish Council upon personal email request.  We cannot confirm the details as being correct at the time of request and would advise you to contact your Parish Council for clarification (PC contact details on our home page).  The document was received on Friday 14th August and some meetings have already passed.  The next (viable) date on the schedule is 19th August.

PARISH COUNCIL HOSTED MEETINGS

The NPA have been meeting with Parish Councils to discuss the key issues raised in response to the consultation on the draft National Park Plan, report the outcomes of the recent series of working groups on the main topics, and provide an opportunity for the parishes to make an input, and raise other issues not covered in the topic groups.

An offer to attend parish and town council meetings during June and July to give an update of progress on the National Park Plan has also been made by the NPA.

Unfortunately, the meetings in June and July appear to be the only remaining forum for residents to have an input on the revised Park Plan.  These arrangements fall woefully short of the promises made by the NPA to include public participation at this vital stage and it remains to be seen whether your own Parish Council takes up the NPA's offer to attend a scheduled meeting.

ONE VOICE has been in contact with many Parish Councils to ask if they will be holding parish meetings open to residents and where an NPA representative has been invited.  The feedback from Parish Councils so far has been patchy but we can inform you of the following: -

UPDATE: 150609

In the wake of Richard Lemon's resignation from the NPA, One Voice has asked his successor, Steve Avery, if he will honour the arrangements already made regarding Parish Council hosted meetings.  His reply is below:

"Thank you for your email. I am very keen to ensure continuity and momentum in the engagement strategy that Richard Lemon has set in place and in this regard, I shall be attending meetings hosted by the Parish Councils where they have been requested – starting this Friday evening in Boldre."

Unfortunately, Mr Avery did not respond to the second question: Please advise if any further meetings are in the pipeline?

UPDATE: 300409 NPA Website:

Meetings are currently taking place with town and parish councils in the four quadrants of the National Park, at which the issues considered by the working groups are also being discussed. The notes of these meetings will be placed on the website when finalised.
