Hello all,
THE PANEL MUST BE INVITED TO THE NEW FOREST - DON'T
LEAVE IT TO CHANCE!
Please firstly read this important information
regarding the Independent Panel.
The Panel’s Chairman,
Bishop of Liverpool, the Right Reverend James Jones said:
“It’s clear that the public care passionately about our
forests and woodlands, and one of the panel’s very first tasks will be to meet
with the grassroots campaigners who recently showed how much they valued their
local woodlands”.
It is
crucial that the Panel engage fully with New Forest organisations and community
groups as part of their evidence gathering process. One Voice will be writing to the Chairman to reiterate the
importance of open and transparent discussions with the people of the New
Forest so that concerns relating to access, recreation, New Forest Acts,
safeguarding forestry jobs, National Park purposes etc., are fully
understood. We shall ask that the panel
visits the New Forest at an early stage in the process so they can see how the
Forestry Commission manage and maintain the delicate balance between nature and
recreation.
Your
letter writing in the past has clearly demonstrated that people living in, working
in or visiting the New Forest care deeply about its future. It is now time for you to please make a
difference again by writing directly to Bishop Jones and the Independent Panel
and invite them down to the New Forest at their earliest convenience: -

As
the Panel only has one recreational member (The Ramblers) you may feel it
important to write to individual panel members asking that they ensure there will
be no erosion of access rights such as the CROW Act; the Law of Property Act
1925; and the fact that the Forestry
Commission in the New Forest has dedicated as access land all the woodland
areas that it manages which do not have access rights under the Law of
Property Act 1925. Contact details
below. (We have tried to find as many direct email
addresses as possible – if you find a missing one, please let us know so we
may update this page, thanks). |
